Knowing Rowing Open Day 14.09.11
The Knowing Rowing open day was a big success with everyone taking part having had a great day. Many thanks to Debbie Flood for giving us all an insight into what life is like as an Olympic rower.
Summary
Through this programme, the Museum will work in partnership with schools and clubs across the country to inspire young rowers, and particularly, excite more interest in the history and heritage of the sport, including the River & Rowing Museum. The programme is supported by Paul Roy and South Oxfordshire District Council.
Aims
• This programme will use the forthcoming Olympic Games to inspire and excite young people about the heritage of rowing and the Museum.
• It will provide a complementary and essential guide for young people learning to row to aid the understanding of key aspects of boat design and technique.
• It will also give clubs and schools the opportunity to take more ownership of the River & Rowing Museum: the extensive collection and beyond.
