Planning your visit
Booking is essential for all educational groups visiting the museum. The museum is a very popular venue for school visits. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking up to a term in advance. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your visit, the needs of your students or would like to view our facilities please telephone for an informal discussion.

Admission Prices - All visits now include access to
Wind in the Willows at no extra charge!
(all prices quoted are excluding VAT)
Tutored workshop £5.25 per child (minimum charge £100)
SEN groups of up to 12 £50 for 1.5 hours tutored workshop (additional pupils £5.25)
Self-led visits £3.00 per child
All accompanying adults are FREE. Students must be accompanied at all times by an adult and remain the responsibility of their teachers.
Boat trip £115 (subject to change) for a maximum of 50 passengers.
Adult: Pupil ratios
KS1 - 1 adult to 6 children
KS2 - 1 adult to 8 children
KS3 - 1 adult to 15 children
Failure to meet these ratios contravenes Health and Safety regulations. Maximum group size 100 students plus helpers. Guidelines are available for you to use when completing your Risk Assessment
Payments
We will invoice you after your visit. If your school cancels its booking less than 28 days before the visit some costs shall be payable. Refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.
Opening times
The Museum, shop and Riverside Café are open 7 days a
week.
Summer (1 May to 31 August) 10am to 5.30pm
Winter (1 September to 30 April) 10am to 5pm.
We recommend a whole day visit from 10am to 2.15pm for most
workshops.
Access
The museum is fully accessible to children with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities. All workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of children with special educational needs, please discuss details when you book.
Free Teacher Visit
A familiarisation visit to the museum prior to a group visit is essential. This can take place after school, in the holidays or at the weekend but should be arranged in advance with the Education Team. There will be no charge for teachers wishing to see the museum in order to plan a class visit.
