American Friends
American Friends of the River & Rowing Museum
The American Friends of the River & Rowing Museum aims not only to promote a growing cooperation between the rowing worlds of the US and the UK through a variety of ways, including special touring exhibitions and related educational programmes, but also to stimulate interest in the river Thames and its environment.
The American Friends also helps to tell the great stories of international rowing history; indeed part of one of the finest rowing collections in the world - the Thomas E Weil Collection - is displayed in our unique International Rowing Gallery, the first in the world dedicated to rowing. Tom saw his first Henley Royal Regatta as a boy and competed in it for Yale in 1970.
Your support will help us to:
- Preserve and honour rowing history on both sides of the Atlantic
- Secure an acquisition fund to react to auction opportunities and to help us conserve important historical objects relevant to our collections
- Organise touring exhibitions to the USA
- Fund related environmental educational programmes
- Build friendships between the rowing enthusiasts of our two nations
- Celebrate the sport of rowing
The River & Rowing Museum's American Friends scheme allows US citizens to make a tax efficient donation to the Museum. It is a 501 (c) (3) no profit organisation. Donations are tax-deductable to the full extent allowed by US law.
